The moment we have all been waiting for the entire year is finally here! Our socially-responsible campaign Code for a Cause (“Programeri za Novosađane”) is launched. For the third time, we are asking our citizens to think about the problems which can be solved with a software solution.

Code for a Cause is aimed at the people who live in Novi Sad. We are looking for visionaries, NGO and non-profit organisations which want to give their contribution to society.

Our goal is to utilise our enthusiasm, knowledge and technology to solve some of the problems in our local community. We invite you to submit your idea and get ready for exciting months ahead of us.

What Are the Important Things to Know About Phase #1?

During the first phase, which lasts from June 1st until July 12th, we invite you to SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT IDEA AT THIS LINK. To make the application process as simple as possible, we created a form with only six fields you need to fill out.

    Who Can Apply?

Code for a Cause is aimed at the people who live in Novi Sad. We are looking for visionaries, NGO and non-profit organisations which want to give their contribution to society. We believe that if we join our strengths we will achieve more.

Last year, some of the projects we worked on were Mobile App for Suicide prevention organisation “Srce”(Heart) and Mobile App for “Fruškać” - an online guide with maps and hiking tracks for National park Fruška Gora.

Which Types of Projects Will Be Considered?

We will consider all the non-profit projects whose goal is to improve the quality of life both in our local community and beyond.

Whether you need a Mobile App for a service that will be free for the public, a website for your organisation or an internal software for your NGO which will make your daily workday easier, we are open to any kind of ideas that will help our community thrive.

You Have Submitted Your Project Idea. Now What?

Next month, on July the 12th we will close the application form and analyse all the submitted ideas with our software developers. We will look for the project ideas which can be realised during our final event, 48 hours of programming (Hackathon).

After evaluating all the projects and choosing the achievable ideas, we will organise public voting on our Social Media profiles. On July the 22nd we will invite the citizens of Novi Sad to vote for the ideas they believe are the most important.

Projects will be developed through modular programming. We believe that anyone can make their own contributions and we will keep each project open source.

Once the project is completed we will transfer the ownership of the project to the idea initiators, as well as the original source code.

Vega IT claims the right to include an additional project after the public voting and we are also committed to finishing all the projects from the hackathon.

Now, what is stopping you from submitting your idea? ;-)
